I hope you all had a relaxing three-day weekend. Hopefully many of you took advantage of the stormy weather to read, read, read! The month is half over, so you should be at least to the middle of your October book. We will be working on the book report project during class over the next couple of weeks so please stay on top of your reading and have the book finished by October 28th.
We will continue reading and writing poetry in language arts. Be prepared to analyse a famous poem and share your interpretations with the class. The following week we will take an in-depth look at Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven!" Just in time for Halloween! With the elections on the horizon, our focus in social studies will shift to this historic event. Many of you have expressed great interest in this topic and have kept up with current events, including many of the recent debates. I encourage you to continue talking with your families about the important issues of this election. Our focus in class will be on democracy, voting, and the United States government. Tolerance and respect are required! Finally, I am excited to continue with our eyesight study in science. Keep thinking critically and asking insightful questions. Thank you for your patience as I learn this new curriculum. Have a fabulous week!
